The 2025 Australian Motocross Championship has tested every ounce of strength, belief, and resilience within the Factory Honda Racing Team. But Round 5, held this past weekend, became more than just a race, it was a moment of inspiration and heart for everyone involved.
With its powerful on-track performance, winning five of the six races across three classes and heartfelt off-track initiatives supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Ronald McDonald House through Bella Build, Round 5 reflected the true character of the Honda Racing family.
Unbreakable Team Spirit
Team Director Yarrive Konsky spoke openly about the trials the team has faced:
“At Round 1, Kyle Webster had a horrific crash and couldn’t finish race two. Then Wilson Todd broke ribs at a state event. Brodie Connolly tore his MCL at Round 2, and Alex Larwood did the same in Round 3. Charli Cannon broke and dislocated her finger, requiring surgery days before going overseas to compete. And just this past week, Kyle suffered another heavy crash, bruising his back and breaking bones. Yet here we are. Not one of them quit.”
Konsky added: “My team is my family. I feel every injury and every setback with them. These results mean so much more because of what we’ve had to overcome. You can’t beat people who refuse to give up.”
MX1
Kyle Webster rode through pain (refer to attached picture) to claim second overall, including a stirring win in Moto 2. Despite a crash in Race 1 that limited him to third, he responded with one of the most powerful performances of the season.
“You can’t crash in this class and expect to win. That cost me in Race 1, but I regrouped. The pain faded as soon as the gate dropped in race 2, winning that race was crucial to our championship hopes” said Webster, who currently sits second overall.
Wilson Todd showed continued progress with a strong fourth overall. “This is the first full season I’ve had in over a year and my first ever on the 450. It’s tough, but I’m fighting. I want that top 3 overall, and I know it’s possible.”
Wilson Todd sits 4th in the championship and claimed 4th overall on the weekend.
MX2
Brodie Connolly was dominant in Race 1 and qualifying but was forced to fight through the pack after a first-turn incident in Race 2. He charged back to fourth for second overall and extended his championship lead.
“Someone took us all out in the first turn. I was dead last, there were 3 or 4 of us on the ground. Still, I pushed hard and was happy with my riding. Seeing Alex and Honda win was a silver lining.”
That Alex Larwood win marked a major comeback. He charged from sixth to second in Moto 1 and secured victory in Moto 2.
“I made changes after Traralgon, to my routine, diet, mindset. This weekend proved it was worth it. This is a team win.”
Larwood now sits within 3 points of third in the championship.
MX3
Kayd Kingsford continued his standout season, dominating both motos and growing his points lead to 38.
“I’m learning every weekend. This has been the best season of my career. The team’s support has been incredible.”
MXW
The women had a weekend off, but Charli Cannon remains the championship leader. She returns at Toowoomba.
Racing with Purpose
Beyond the bikes, Honda Racing Australia turned its passion toward purpose.
The team launched a campaign to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, auctioning off custom – one-off rider helmets, custom FLY RACING jerseys, and custom SKDA graphics as well as some VIP experiences to Supercross later this year. Three limited-edition t-shirts are also being sold, with 100% of proceeds going to breast cancer research. The auction is live though to the 3rd of July – https://shophondaracing.com/auction/
“We race as a team, but we also stand together for something bigger. Cancer touches everyone. This is our way of giving back, I believe we have already raised more than half of our target, which is amazing. The effort all our sponsors went to, with specially designed gear, helmets and graphics is appreciated” said reigning MX1 Champion Kyle Webster.
Additionally, a CRF110F and VIP tickets to the Adelaide 500 were donated to the Ronald McDonald House via Bella Build, raising $9,000 toward the over $500,000 raised to building a second palliative care home in South Australia through Bella Build and its platinum partners.
The next round of the Australian Motocross Championship takes place in two weeks in Canberra. One thing is certain—this team will show up with the same spirit, heart, and determination that made Round 5 unforgettable.
