AMX Superstores–Backed Quad Lock Honda Team Shines at Round 3 of the World Supercross Championship

Round three of the 2025 World Supercross Championship delivered an unforgettable spectacle, something Queensland, Australia has never experienced at this scale. The championship brought together many of the world’s best supercross racers, entertaining a packed and appreciative Australian crowd who were treated to world-class racing.

AMX Superstores stepped up as title sponsor of the Quad Lock Honda Team for this event, and the reigning powerhouse team rose to the occasion.

Qualifying & SuperPole

Joey Savatgy led the early charge, topping SuperPole with a flawless lap.

“I feel good. We keep making small changes, and I’m feeling very confident on the bike,” said Savatgy.

Savatgy edged out a stacked field featuring both current and past AMA champions.

Christian Craig qualified sixth after topping the charts in both timed practice sessions.

“We were all so close. I made some changes after qualifying because I knew where we could improve, myself included,” Craig said.

Shane McElrath delivered a strong qualifying performance and secured second in SuperPole, while Anthony Bourdon finished 12th.

“It’s me, the travel, everything. I’m not riding my best,” Bourdon admitted.

Each WSX round features three finals per class, with two eight-lap sprints and a 12-lap main event.

SX1 Race Recap

Race 1:

Christian Craig and Joey Savatgy both launched well out of the gate. Despite an unintentional mid-race collision, the pair salvaged strong results, Craig finishing
3rd and Savatgy 5th.

Race 2:

Savatgy fought hard for another 3rd, maintaining consistency.

Craig recovered from a first-turn mishap and charged to 6th before a collision with another rider pushed him back again. He mounted a second comeback, setting the second-fastest lap time of the race, but the damage was done as he crossed the line 9th.

Race 3:

Craig delivered a masterclass. He sliced through a field of decorated champions and dominated the final race of the night.

Savatgy secured 5th, successfully fending off pressure from the current AMA champion.

Craig finished 2nd overall for the night and moved into 2nd in the championship.
Savatgy finished 5th overall and now sits 3rd in the standings. Craig was emotional after securing his first WSX victory and overall podium for the season:

“Wow. So many people stopped believing in me, but this team didn’t. They fought for me, and I’m so happy to be here. It feels so good to win again,” Craig said.

Savatgy felt positive about his riding but is hungry for more:

“I can’t afford to lose points. I’m happy with my riding, but my starts need work. The bike and team are working well.”

SX2 Race Recap

In SX2, McElrath rebounded strongly with finishes of 5-3-2 for 2nd overall, moving him into 3rd in the championship.

“I’ve needed to work on myself. The bike is clearly there—we’ve proven that time and time again. This sport is a roller coaster. We’re ticking boxes, owning our mistakes, and continuing to grow,” McElrath said.

Anthony Bourdon claimed 10th overall and contributed valuable points to the team championship fight.

“I’m better than this. I need to be better. I only have one more round, South Africa., and I want to make it count,” said Bourdon.

Teams Championship

The Quad Lock Honda Team continues to lead the Teams Championship, an achievement the group values highly. The title represents consistency, preparation, and collective excellence, and with two rounds remaining, the team is determined to secure it.

Team Director Remarks

Team Director Yarrive Konsky was not in attendance due to the Australian Supercross Championship finale taking place on the same weekend. With three national titles on the line, he went to South Australia to support his domestic riders. However, he was fully engaged with open communication with team, live timing and broadcast coverage throughout the WSX event.

“Great results. A lot of good was achieved on the weekend. Christian earned his first win, and now both he and Joey sit 2nd and 3rd in the championship. Shane was strong, and Anthony is building,” Konsky said.

Next Round

The team will remain in Australia this week for additional testing and training before heading to Sweden for Round 4 of the World Supercross Championship.
