Cas Valk conquered the victory and came home with the championship leader’s red plate

The penultimate seasonal appointment of the Prestige Italian Championship took place in Ponte a Egola. The Fantic Factory MX team enrolled their top riders, while Alexis Fueri missed the appointment after injuring himself in a training session.

Cas Valk showed an excellent physical shape in the qualifying where he set the best time of his group. Hakon Osterhagen was seventh. Cas achieved the fourth best performance overall so he could start from a very good position of the starting gate in both motos.Cas pulled away at the start of Race1 and took the lead of the moto, but could keep it for just a few laps. When Valk made a mistake, he had to give away the first place. The Dutch rider tried to work his way up and reach the new leader but eventually classified second. Hakon Osterhagen crashed and was forced to abandon the race.

Valk’s start was not perfect in the second heat where he was fourth in the first lap, but thanks to an excellent race pace he recovered till second place. When the race leader made a mistake, Valk was ready to take the lead and pulled away, opening a gap on his rival, so he won the race. On the other hand, it was a tough race for Hakon Osterhagen. After the start of the race Hakon took the seventh position but lost positions because of some mistakes and even had to leave the race.

Thanks to this victory, Cas Valk moved to the top of the MX2 standings and there’s one more race to go.

Marco Maddii:“It’s been a perfect weekend for Cas Valk, who won the race and reached the top of the standings. Too bad for the first heat which featured little mistakes and a setting which was not perfect, so that’s why he couldn’t win. Hakon made too many mistakes and his performance was also affected by an old injury to his thighbone”.
